Things sure have changed around here.

Welcome back, friends, family and – well, and I guess you too, foes. Welcome to another edition of the Daily Brew. Or at least Weekdaily. Unless I get lazy and don’t write anything, which most of the time, someone else steps up and knocks one out real fast, in which case you don’t (hopefully even notice anyway), wait, where was I going with this? Oh yeah. Welcome back. There’s someone I’d like you to meet.

CatinaThis here is Catina. Say hi to Ca- — wait. Where the hell did she go? Well actually, I’ve never met her, you see. But I’ve known her for almost twelve years. And what makes Catina so important that she should be introduced here? Well, she’s been here a lot, lot longer than you. Catina has been reading this site since 1999.

When Catina started reading the site, it was still Moon’s Crater. That was the first domain name under which we all wrote. And this site has been through many phases, changes, color schemes and domain names. Well, she’s been here through all of it. And I think that’s pretty damn cool.

So what is your earliest memory of the site, Catina?

Boobies. I seem to vaguely remember a certain Space man posing as a professional photographer and tempting me with free photographs. He said he was going to make me a star. Now that may not the first thing (and I’ll explain that in the next question) but that’s when it got interesting.

Well, I am a professional photographer. So what’s wrong with that? :?

Okay, so for about a year, it was literally just a Star Wars fan site. We discussed it, posted theories about it, and – well, that’s really all I can stomach saying about it right now. I’d rather just let that slip away into the past like a dead tie fighter. So do you remember the travesty that was Moon’s Crater Star Wars?

I seem to have blocked this portion of time out. *cough* *cough* *youcantmakemeadmitireadthatshit* *cough*

Well, you did come back though. What was it, to the best of your recollection, that prompted you to start reading the site? Or what made you come back a second time, after having been here the first?

You see I was this bored desktop publisher and when there was nothing to do I followed a couple “blogs”. The two most memorable ones were (1) a girl who lived in Canada but decided to sell everything she had and move to Japan, and (2) our friend Spacey’s site. I loved bickering with Spacey’s writers about our differing opinions.

What is your favorite column ever written on the site, or any of the sites?

The treasure in the forest. You owe me one damn it! I lie awake at night finishing that story in my noggin. Well not really but I would truly love if you’d wrap that shit up!

You got it. I’ll work on that this week. So who was or is your favorite writer?

You, of course, and then Lazarus. He and I had some amazing arguments. Moonshine was pretty awesome too. There were only a couple writers that I disliked.

Yeah, there have been a couple I didn’t really see eye-to-eye with either. It’s all good though. We move on and try new stuff. And what is it that brings you back day after day, eleven years later? Obviously the only thing we post here is writing, but what is it about this writing that brings you back?

Humor and my great friendship, though it may only be cyber, with the Space man himself. You, good sir, have been through a lot with me. Marriage, divorce, birth of kids, deaths of loved ones and always there with good advice and support. Well the support was more for my boobs than anything but all the more reason I love ya man! When I needed a diversion from reality the site has always been there (all 2384729852 of them) and when I needed a shoulder Space was always there with a pep talk and a reassurance that my boobs were great.

Well they are, fellas. You’re right though, this site has been through about a gazillion revisions. But this domain is here to stay. If you could change any one thing about the site, what would it be? More porn? More dead babies? More elephants? We love feedback from our readers, and – well, you’ve been here long enough, you should get to make one change. (Just no elephant porn.)

I want the contests back :D I won a few things over the years and have them to this day though I am still waiting on my CD. Dude! Mail between Texas and Oklahoma is slow as shit. Must be all that SUCKING Texass does!

Uh huh. Don’t forget, Hoklagoma is the reason Texas doesn’t just float off into the ocean. And we all know the best thing to ever come out of Hoklagoma was I-35. Well I will definitely look into the contests bit. So is there anything else you want to shout out, take advantage of your global resonance here while you have the stage?

I can’t wait to see what the next years hold and what new relationships I can see grow from the site. Keep reading folks. It’s totally worth the productive hours lost. Until we meet… Peace, love and boobies for all!

Well said, Catina. I like that. Boobies for all! That might be my new motto, in fact. Well thank you, Catina, for being a long-time reader and fan. It’s people like you who keep us going, literally. Thanks again, Catina. Keep reading!

So there you have it, friends. Someone who’s been here since the beginning. You stick around for eleven years and we might give you a shirt. And be sure that when you see her in the comments section that you say hi to her.

The domain names we’ve used here (well, the ones I can think of off the top of my head):

  • moonscrater.com
  • nospacehere.com
  • stellarcafe.com
  • crater23.com
  • prosevault.com
  • spacebasement.com
  • tospaceandbeyond.com
  • dejectedplanet.com
  • gostella.com
  • wideopenwarehouse.com
  • spacebrew.com

Yeah, it’s sort of a long list. And there’s probably more I can’t remember right now. Here are some of the screenshots showing you what the site has looked like over the years. Unfortunately, I don’t have images of all those other domain names, but you can see how radically it did change.

Well, Catina, it would appear you are a site celebrity then. But just because Space says your boobs are nice doesn’t mean we’re all gonna take his word for it.
    :D

  2. Becky Riles

Well, congrats, Catina! I thought I had been reading here a long time I’ve been reading since about 2005.

That’s pretty cool you got to get interviewed. When is mine, Space! :D

Chicks can get a “longevity” award? That’s a new one for me. I think some websites have that kind of ‘clientèle’ in mind. Something about Justin Bieber and the Twilight series. … wait.. where was I going?

Did I ever tell you about the time I worked on a boneless chicken farm?

  4. Phil Mabe

Okay I’ve looked in the archives now and just realized I never knew how long you’ve had this site up, Space. I know where I can come if I have a lot of time to kill!

  5. Jeremy

Hey I remember some of those. Wheres my longevity award, I’ve been reading these sites since I started my current job, which was May of 03′.

    1. Space

Big Strong Jeremy whined:Wheres my longevity award?
